Enthusiastic participants in New Mexico Makerstate programming.

The New Mexico Makerstate Initiative excites communities about digital literacy and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) through “maker” programs in collaboration with public and tribal libraries across the state.

The initiative is led the New Mexico State Libraryin partnership with the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and interns from New Mexico Highlands University’s AmeriCorps Cultural Technology Program. Makerstate programs feature 3D printing, robotics, Scratch computer programming, sewable electronics, and more.

In addition, librarians receive training in leading workshops and providing programs to their communities.
