Log on and learn... New Mexico Music Commission offers free artist workshops.

Santa Fe, NM – Help boost your music career as the New Mexico Music Commission is once again partnering with Artist INC Express, a development program of Mid-America Arts Alliance to help musicians and performers grow their abilities into thriving careers starting Jan. 22, 2024.

Santa Fe’s Bob Dodge attended the Artist INC Express workshops and formed his own 3-piece band feels the workshop has expanded his music universe, “One of the better parts about the workshops was meeting other people with similar goals, needs, questions, etc.  Meeting folks through the workshops got me back "out there,” playing music, writing new songs, sharing what I know." Dodge says he learned how to copyright his newer material using the web, something he wouldn’t have done without prodding from the workshops.

The online nine-hour, hands-on workshop led by a team of experienced, working musicians and performers will help musicians recognize and overcome the challenges they face in their careers. Hands on exercises, activities, and discussions by the team of musician-facilitators and a network of peer musicians, will help participating artists set goals for their practice, write about their work, and build a personal brand.

Artist INC Express is a slimmed down version of the popular eight-week Artist INC Live program, which has been completed by more than 2,000 musicians and artists since 2009. Artist INC Express is not your standard webinar experience, you are asked to commit to the entire nine-hour workshop, as exercises build on one another and as participants develop deep relationships with their fellow musicians over the three sessions with group discussions, hands-on exercises, and small group work.

Artist INC Express activates a network of musicians in your community, leading to more peer-to-peer resource sharing, collaborations, and support long after the workshop concludes.

Interested performers and musicians may register at  https://www.maaa.org/event/artist-inc-express-new-mexico-musicians-virtual-2/ . The priority deadline for the early session is January 12th, 2024, at 10 a.m. with a second workshop priority registration on March 8th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The full sessions run January 22-25 and March 19-21 and are free.

It’s Artist INC’s 15th anniversary and it has been completed by more than 1,500 artists. Artist INC is supported in part by grants from the Windgate Foundation, the Hallmark Corporate Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Learn more about Artist INC at www.artistinc.art.
