NEWS ADVISORY: Brighten up your holidays with Lights of Los Luceros on December 16th!

December 6th, 2023

Brighten up your holidays with Lights of Los Luceros on December 16th!

Start the holiday season right with Lights of Los Luceros! On Saturday, December 16th, Los Luceros Historic Site will be dressed for the season: farolitos, luminarias, and Christmas lights will line the site’s walking paths, helping visitors find their way as they stroll under the magnificent Milky Way. The historic buildings will don their own holiday finery, too! Join the excitement from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

And that’s not all! Arts and crafts vendors, selling Pueblo pottery, quilts, biscochitos, and more, will be there to help with your last-minute gift purchases. Food vendors like Manko of Los Alamos and Eat Cute Bakery will take care of dinner for visitors and their families. (Black Mesa Winery also returns this year with their mulled wine and cider!) And there will be a kids’ corner brimming with fun activities!

If the weather is good, visitors will also have the chance to view the winter stars and observe bright planets with astronomers from PEEC and telescopes set up by the Pajarito Astronomers!

New Mexico Historic Sites values its communities! The sites exist not only to preserve New Mexico’s history and culture, but to help cultivate it, too. And winter events like this one are an opportunity for community members to come together on their local sites, break bread with and support one another, and soak in their area’s natural beauty.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 16 and younger. Museum of New Mexico Foundation, Native Americans, and members of the Amigos will be free. To purchase tickets, visit our website.

Los Luceros Historic site is at 253 County Road 41, Alcalde, NM. There is ongoing construction along NM-68. To plan your visit, please review the recommended routes on this downloadable map.
